Life at Sparkfund
Let’s be honest — it’s tough working in the energy industry. Academic research continues to reveal the expanding reach of climate change, so we know we have a lot to do. But we’re not afraid to tackle a big topic and transform a well-established industry. What’s in our secret sauce? Our people — we couldn’t achieve our mission without happy and productive employees who work to build a better planet.
We know it's easy to get overwhelmed by the uphill battle, but we also know that we are greater than the sum of our individual parts. That’s why we are committed to building a diverse team and creating a culture that ensures retention and equity. We embrace the little wins and the big wins as a company, and we always cheer each other on because when one of us succeeds, we all do. Together, our dedicated team is working to lighten the load by focusing on an impactful mission to expand access to energy eicient technology. Will you join us?
Sparkfund seeks to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by accelerating the adoption of new energy systems and services through a transformational subscription model.
Compensation & Ownership
Sparkfund offers employees competitive compensation and a 401(k) with a Sparkfund match. We believe in radical ownership, so all team members have stock option plans. Every employee also has a $1,000 professional development budget to use annually
Health and happiness go hand in hand. Health, vision, and dental insurance are available for you and your family, and many of our individual plans are 100% covered. Sparkfund offers FSAs and HSAs for the eligible plans and covers disability and life insurance for all employees. To make your commute easier, we also have pre-tax commuter benefits.
Caregiver (Parental) Leave
Congratulations on the new addition to your family! Sparkfund encourages new parents to take eight weeks of paid child caregiver leave so you can spend time with your family when you have a baby or adopt a child.
We work hard and want you to play hard. Sparkfund offers a flexible vacation philosophy and encourages Sparkfunders to take four weeks off to enjoy themselves, beyond the 10 paid holidays. Not feeling well? There’s no limit to sick days, either, so you can take the time you need to get well.
We know that you work best when you're most comfortable so there’s no dress code. You’ll always fit in, whether you’re wearing a t-shirt or a blazer. Likewise, not everyone is an early bird, which is why we don’t have core hours. And if you need a day to work from home, that’s ok too!
Office & Community
Our Washington, D.C. office is a mix of vintage charm (hello, plaster ceilings) and modern conveniences like sit/stand desks and nap rooms. The kitchen is always stocked with snacks and cold brew coffee, and lunch is catered every Friday. Sparkfunders love engaging with the D.C. culture, too, by participating in volunteer and charitable opportunities throughout the year.
Empowering Diverse Voices
Sparkfund is working to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions through the implementation of our transformational subscription model. To do so, we seek out and empower people who are different from each other to source the best ideas and collaborate on their execution. That’s why we’re committed to diversity and building an equitable and inclusive environment for people of all backgrounds and experiences, and are taking steps to meet that commitment.
We solve root problems to make a lasting, positive change on the planet
We seek out and empower people who are different from each other to source the best ideas and collaborate on their execution.
We honor our commitments and take action when we fall short — always.
We will pursue what’s right, even when it’s not easy.
